We are looking for a Head of Retail who has a proven track record in developing new and existing senior level retail relationships.  The successful candidate will have a high degree of commercial autonomy with full P&L responsibility for our retail business unit.  Experience in recruiting and managing a successful team and delivering key projects are essential.


Key Responsibilities include:

  • Direct accountability for the UK retail team (currently 7 heads with recruitment on-going)
  • Deliver on-going new retail launches
  • Own and develop the retail trade plan in conjunction with the CEO with full P&L responsibility
  • Deliver on commercial growth targets (sales, profit and margin) through on-going the development of commercial trade partnerships
  • Establish strong relationships with key retail accounts
  • Monitor trade and competitor product ranges
  • Manage and develop trade, promotions and marketing campaigns to deliver the business objectives
  • Oversee instore product range launches along with delivery of new merchandising and POS units
  • Oversee instore stock replenishment on store by store basis (working with our external fulfilment partner)
  • Drive actions based on data led insights
  • Deliver trade performance reporting
  • Deliver a great brand proposition for our partners
  • Work with internal stakeholders to deliver a “best in class” service level for our partners and customers
  • Setting up yearly budgets
  • Manage seasonal sell-in plans, produce seasonal strategic sales plans for each key account
  • Review the cost of service providers and manage a tender process to reduce costs where possible
  • The role will also include an element of retail in Ireland and as a result there will be some busines travel. 
  • This is a full time role with 95% of the work being office based in Borehamwood and including team management 

Key Competencies/Skills:

  • Experienced at negotiating with business leaders / retailers at a senior level
  • Project management experience
  • Proven delivery of commercial targets and an understanding of P&L management
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Outstanding communicator and team player
  • Senior management, team leadership skills and recruitment experience
  • Experience of managing stock delivery into and returns from retailers
  • Experience of setting up and managing outsourced/ in house instore merchandising team(s)

Desirable but not essential

  • Understanding of gift card technology
  • In-depth experience of in-store retail, wholesale, business development, P&L and budget
